Our
Faith |
|
First,
we are Christians.
What
is a Christian?
*A
Christian must take four important steps in life— |
| (1) |
You
have realized God’s purpose: Peace and life.
God loves you and wants you to experience peace and
life; life which is abundant and eternal.
“I
have come that they may have life, and have it to
the full.” John 10:10 |
| (2)
|
You
have recognized our problem: Separation.
We chose to disobey God and go our own stubborn way.
We still make this choice today and it results in
separation from God.
“For
all have sinned and fall short of the glory of
God.” Romans 3:23 |
| (3) |
You
have recognized God’s bridge: The cross.
Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay your penalty
for sin. His sacrifice bridges the gap between
God and people.
“But
God demonstrates his own love for us in this:
While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8 |
| (4) |
You
have received God’s solution: Jesus Christ.
You must trust Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior
and invite Him into your life.
“That
if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’
and believe in your heart that God raised him from
the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9 |
|
.
Do you know for certain that if you died today, you
would go to heaven?

Second,
we are a member of the family of God. |
|
The
Bible often refers to the members of Christ’s
church as those who are a part of a spiritual
family. Here at Ridgecrest, we believe in
connecting your family with other Christian families
as a network of love and support.
“Consequently,
you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow
citizens with God’s people and members of God’s
household.” Ephesians 2:19 |
|
..
Third,
we are members of the church. |
|
Ridgecrest
Baptist Church is an autonomous body of believers.
While we recognize the importance of associating and
cooperating with other groups of Christians, we
believe that our church should be self-governing and
independent from any denominational control.
We receive people into the local body of Christ here
by: |
| (1) |
Profession
of faith, whereby you accept Christ as Lord and
Savior and follow him by baptism. |
| (2) |
Statement
of faith, whereby you have accepted Christ, have
been baptized, and are joining us from another
denomination. |
| (3) |
Transfer
of letter, whereby you move your membership from
another Southern Baptist church. |
..
Finally,
we are members of the Southern Baptist Convention. |
|
..
