Now that I am a senior citizen, I have these senior moments. Sometimes I can’t carry on a conversation because I can’t remember words I want to use.
This reminds me of a dear old lady who was called on to pray. She prayed earnestly and lovely and when she got to the end, she wanted to say “Amen,” but her mind went blank, so she said, “Well, err, err, well Goodbye.” I am also a worry-wart. So many problems – many people losing their jobs; buyouts; our government going so far into debt. And you know we can’t live on credit forever. There will be payday some day!
And this government is cutting into my time for my personal worries. I need to be worrying over my personal things like: Will I need to go into a nursing home? Will I get Alzheimer’s? Will I get a brain tumor? Will I break a hip? Should I move? Will I have enough money left for my funeral?
Searching the scripture, I found the 6th chapter of Matthew a great help. I won’t read the whole chapter to you, only the last four verses.
Matthew 6:31-34 31. Do not be anxious then saying, what shall we eat? Or what shall we drink or what shall we clothe ourselves? 32. For all these things the Gentiles eagerly seek; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all of these things. 33. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you. 34. Therefore do not be anxious for tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
