{"id":24,"date":"2011-12-09T02:07:08","date_gmt":"2011-12-09T02:07:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jmediaonline.com\/rbc\/?page_id=24"},"modified":"2019-03-13T14:02:08","modified_gmt":"2019-03-13T19:02:08","slug":"our-purpose","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/rbcmontgomery.com\/?page_id=24","title":{"rendered":"Our Purpose"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Our Purpose Statement<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The Ridgecrest Baptist Church Purpose Statement flows from our values as derived from insight of two important passages of Scripture: God&#8217;s Commandments and Our Commission.<\/p>\n<p>First is God&#8217;s Commandments or The Great Commandments as found in Matthew 22, Mark 12, and Luke 10.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">28 Then one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, perceiving that He had answered them well, asked Him, \u201cWhich is the first commandment of all?\u201d<br \/>\n29 Jesus answered him, \u201cThe first of all the commandments is: \u2018Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God, the LORD is one.30 And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.\u2019 This is the first commandment. 31 And the second, like it, is this: \u2018You shall love your neighbor as yourself.\u2019 There is no other commandment greater than these.\u201d Mark 12:28-31<\/p>\n<p>Second is Our Commission or The Great Commission as found in Matthew 28 and in Acts 1.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, \u201cAll authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.\u201d Amen. Matthew 28:18-20<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">8 &#8220;But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.\u201d Acts 1:8<\/p>\n<p>These two statements by Christ focus on five important purposes as priorities for our individual lives and for the church:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Worship.<br \/>\nEvangelism.<br \/>\nMinistry.<br \/>\nFellowship.<br \/>\nDiscipleship.<\/p>\n<p>These priorities were demonstrated in the early church as found in Acts 2.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. 42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles\u2019 doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43 Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. 44 Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, 45 and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need.<br \/>\n46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.
